Managing Emergency Incidents on the Roadway
Course Overview
This program, developed by the CVVFA and ERSI, provides emergency services leaders and instructors with information and tools on traffic incident management that they can use to prepare their region's other emergency responders. The program is designed to be a mix of classroom and hands on training using Table Top exercises. This program was created with funding provided by DHS/FEMA's Fire Prevention and Safety grant, and is just one of the ERSI's efforts to ensure that "Everybody Goes Home".
Course Objectives
The primary objective of this program is to introduce the concept of Traffic Incident management and the importance of working together with other agencies to achieve the NUG (National Unified Goal) goals of Responder Safety; Safe, Quick Clearance; and Prompt, Reliable, Interoperable Communications. The program will focus on encouraging those in leadership positions to set up the necessary operating guidelines with all stakeholders involved, and the importance of providing local Operational Training at a local level, such as our Highway Safety for Emergency Responders program.
