Course Overview

The purpose of this course is to provide EMS personnel with an introduction to the role and responsibility of the Medical Unit Leader in a large scale operation. This course will cover responsibilities from mobilization to demobilization, including planning and establishing the Medical Unit and Aid Stations, important principles of incident rehabilitation, risk assessment, managing non-urgent medical complaints of responders, and writing an ICS 206 Medical Plan.
 
Course Objectives

To prepare EMS leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively establish, staff and manage a Medical Unit at a large scale incident.
 
Topics

Working in a classroom environment, our instructors with hands-on, real-world incident command experience will offer instruction in reading an Incident Action Plan, Establishing & Maintaining the Unit, Organizaing and supervising the Unit, Decoumentation and Demobilization.

 

Audience

EMT's, Paramedics and other Field Medical Personnel who may be asked to set up and manage a Medical Unit at any size event or incident.
