Emergency Incident Rehabilitation

Course Overview
Emergency Incident Rehabilitation is not just for fire scenes. This course focuses the participant on all-hazard rehabilitation, rational behind the need for, requirements on NJ based Fire Departments, recommendations and best practices in the field of Rehab, and an overview of additional training programs. This NJ EMS Educations Association program offers 3 hours of Continuing education for the NJ EMT, and is the recommended training program of the NJ County EMS Coordinators and NJ EMS Task Force. An All-Hazards approach to Rehab includes incidents involving law enforcement, MCIs, pre-planned events and training exercises.
Course Objectives
Ability to recognize and set up a functioning Emergency Incident Rehabilitation unit at an All-Hazard Incident. Discussion will include the impact of heat, cold and wind-chill on the emergency worker, as well as proper placement of a rehabilitation area. Focus on evaluation, medical monitoring, return to active duty or releasing of incident, treatment and transportation will be covered for all types of incidents, not just fire scenes. Knowlege of proper nutrition and fluid replacement will lead into final scenario review.

Audience
All medical staff who may be assigned to provide Emergency Incident Rehabilization, including First Responders, EMT's, Paramedics or Field Physicians. Also, any Fire Officer, Police Officer, Safety Officer, Incident Commander, Operations Section Chief, Logistics Section Chief, Medical Unit Leader, Food Unit Leader or other senior staff that may have the responsibility for responders operating at a training or emergency incident.

This course is NIMS compliant and meets the NIMS Baseline Training requirements.
